In my work I seek to create beauty by breaking down the natural world into pattern and design. My background in horticulture and floral design play a pivotal role in my choice of subject matter. My education in ecology and geography has helped train my eye to analyze nature’s complex and simple forms. This scientific attention to detail helps inform my decisions regarding the landscapes and botanicals that I render in my paintings.

Working primarily as a printmaker, I am always drawing, snapping photos and painting to capture new ideas for my work. I also draw inspiration from the work of German expressionists, the decoration of art nouveau and various contemporary street artists. I prefer to use printing methods that capture a rough illustrative aesthetic.

Photography to me gives us all the possibility to share and discuss a captured emotion, action, object or pattern with each other. This common connection and interpretation is what excites me about what photography can do in whatever I capture. Whether I have a camera or not, I am constantly thinking on how to frame an object, studying light and watching for similarities and differences as life passes by.
